The use of marijuana has been growing rapidly, not only in the United States but also globally. This trend seems normal at best, but there’s more to it than just the rising numbers of teens and youths finding their way to the first marijuana puff.

One major cause for concern is that there’s a limited amount of factual or educational information about marijuana. With the many sources out there, each with varying views: social media, health professionals, peers, and even parents, it’s easy to see why there’re many contradicting information. All these sources play a critical role as their influence has, to some degree, affected how the younger population perceives the use and effects of marijuana.

A selection of 9 factors was studied to gauge the level of education about marijuana across the 50 U.S states and the District of Colombia. These states were ranked on a scale of 0-10, and their total scores and ranking were obtained. The most educated state has the least total score, while the least educated state has the highest total score. We shall get to how the computation was done under the methodology section.
