Why You Can Trust American Marijuana
American Marijuana has been a trusted cannabis site since 2014, with a team of experts in the field working to ensure you’re only receiving premium quality information.
What is the Magical Butter machine?
Boiling it down to the basics, the Magical Butter machine is an immersion blender with a programmable thermostat and heating unit. That’s a fancy way of saying it’s a countertop botanical extractor designed to make cannabis-infused creations with little to no labor. The Magical Butter machine grinds, heats, stirs, and steeps your herbal extract, all at the correct time intervals and temperature for a perfect infusion every time. You can easily infuse butter, oils, tinctures, and more to make an endless list of delicious edibles.
Making its way onto the scene a few years ago, you will be hard-pressed to find a Magical Butter review that doesn’t praise this botanical revolution for simplifying the process of making edibles. Its unassuming appearance passes for an average coffee maker, but the device is encoded with microprocessor-controlled program sequences to optimize results for consistent and predictable yields every time. In other words, you get up to five cups of butter or oil in a two-hour cycle without breaking a sweat.
Don’t consider yourself an herbal aficionado in the kitchen? There are hundreds of Magical Butter recipes on the website and YouTube channel to help you spice up a dinner party, level up game night, or slip into a night of self-indulgence. Every recipe comes with step-by-step instructions to make herbal-infused candies, desserts, soups, salad dressings, sauces, spreads, topicals and salves, and much more. Your botanical dreams are as close as your countertop.
Magical Butter Machine
- Easily decarb and infuse in a single machine
- Reduced odor
- Grinds your material for you
How the magic happens
With its integrated digital thermostat and sensors, the Magical Butter maker packs the functionality of an industrial decarboxylation machine into a compact device. The microprocessor unit heats the machine up to the perfect temperature. It mixes, stirs, grinds, and extracts the essence of your herbs to produce infused Magical Butter tincture, oil, or butter as a base for a variety of edible recipes.
Since the game plan is to ingest your creations, it’s always recommended to decarb your herbs to activate their potency and potential therapeutic properties before using the Magical Butter machine. There are a few methods for decarboxylation, but the most common is the oven. If you’re trying to operate in stealth mode, you may want to opt for the Magical DecarBox. The food-grade silicone shell keeps temperatures from fluctuating and reduces the smell while your herb is baking.
Extraction without the guesswork
If you’ve ever overcooked an entire batch of cannabutter until you are left with nothing but broken promises and a pot full of useless green liquid—we feel you. With a double boiler or a Crock-Pot, many variables are left to chance. You need to be precise with how long to cook extractions, how often to stir, optimal temperature, the best way to filter to limit nutrient loss, and controlling odors so your kitchen doesn’t smell like a pot processing plant. The beauty of the Magical Butter machine is it’s scientifically designed to infuse butter and oils without the guesswork and tedious labor.
Countless Magical Butter reviews say the machine pays for itself in saving batches from inconsistent cooking methods and eliminating the need to buy overpriced edibles and topicals. The Magical Butter maker also lets customers control the dosage and strength based on the amount of materials and strain-type. As long as the device’s directions are followed, there should never be an “uh-oh” moment that has you guessing if your precious buds are going to turn into liquid gold.
What's in the box?
When you purchase the Magical Butter botanical extractor, you will get everything you need to create cannabis-infused butter, oils, and tincture. Along with the machine itself, you will receive a heat-resistant glove for straining your product, a micron filter, a 110v power cord, an owner’s manual, and a Magical Cookbook. You can expand your setup with plenty of Magical accessories, like the DecarBox, spatulas, silicone molds, measuring cups, and more.
How to use the Magical Butter machine
Step 1: Decarboxylation
Don’t run away. This isn’t as scientific as it sounds. Decarbing, as the cool kids call it, is simply heating your herb up to high temperatures to convert the THCA into plain old THC. Preheat your oven to 250°F while you break up your buds into tiny florets. Place your herb on an oven-safe cookie sheet or inside the Magical DecarBox and cook for about 30 minutes.
Step 2: Ingredients
For butter, you will need 2-5 cups of unsalted butter, 7-14 grams of botanicals per cup, and 1 tablespoon of lecithin per cup. The Magical Chef recommends clarifying your butter before adding it to the pitcher. To clarify, melt and simmer the butter, discard the milk solids and surface foam, using only the golden liquified butterfat.
To cook oils, you will need the same amount of herb and lecithin, but swap out the butter for cooking oil. It’s recommended to use coconut oil or olive, grapeseed, almond, walnut, sesame, avocado, macadamia, or peanut oil. The device is not compatible with ordinary soybean, canola, extra virgin olive, or corn oil.
Tinctures need 7-28 grams of herb per cup, 2-5 cups of Everclear grain alcohol, and 151 to 190 proof (or vegetable glycerin). While you should always be careful in the kitchen, these particular ingredients are highly flammable.
Step 3: Cooking
Press the Temperature button, then press the Timer button to select butter, oil, or tincture, and let the magical experience begin. The machine will heat, shop, and stir your infusion. The standard cycle time for oil is 1 hour, for butter 2 hours, and for tincture 4 or 8 hours. After the cycle is complete, unplug the unit and remove the top. Put your heat-resistant glove on and slowly pour the contents through the micron filter into silicone molds or other storage containers. Use a dark glass container to store oils and tinctures.
Step 4: Cleaning
Tricked you. The unit is self-cleaning. After each use, rinse the pitcher and blades and fill the machine between MIN and MAX with water and a little dish soap. Be careful not to immerse any electrical or black plastic parts. Secure the lid and press the Clean button.
The Pros
Pre-set Temperatures: Never suffer from burnt buds again. The temperature settings are perfectly paired with timed cycles to produce consistent batches that preserve your herb’s precious terpenes, cannabinoids, and flavonoids.
Self-Cleaning: Need we say more? Not only is the device easy to use, but it hardly requires any maintenance beyond a quick rinse and pressing a button. A quick clean cycle and you’re back in action to cook up the next batch.
Low Odor: Compared to traditional methods of making cannabis-infused butter, oils, and tinctures, the Magical Butter machine cuts down on the pungent herbal odors to keep your festivities in stealth mode.
Auto Stir/Grind: Set it and forget it. The machine grinds and stirs your materials for you, saving you time and the headache of constantly watching over your masterpiece in the making.
The Cons
Big Buds: The device doesn’t fair well with small batches. You will need at least half an ounce of cannabis to get the best results.
Loud Blender: The machine may reduce the distinct aroma, but its mixing cycle is exceptionally loud. However, using a conventional food processor for mixing up a batch is just as noisy.
Fragile: Some Magical Butter reviews report that the handle is prone to breaking. This seems to be the only issue with the design. The device is covered by a one-year warranty.
No Decarb: You will have to do this step separately in the oven, in the DecarBox box. You can get a little bit of a decarb while infusing, but it’s not enough to fully activate cannabis compounds.
Is the Magical Butter worth it?
$175 may seem steep at first glance, but if you’re already the type to dip into some edibles on a regular basis, this tabletop extractor is a worthy investment. Additionally, if you’ve already tried your hand in making edibles using traditional methods and don’t want to waste time on precise grinding, stirring, and monitoring—meet your new best friend. The Magical Butter machine is user-friendly and produces consistent results every time with minimal effort. It really is like having your cake and eating it too.
